Västmanlands Teater - "The big fire"
In the picture: Måns Clausen, actor, and the Västerås Chamber Choir
In the calm of everyday life, the unthinkable suddenly occurs. Heat, wind, and drought create the conditions for the violent forest fires that have struck several parts of Sweden during recent warm summers. How can the fire spread so incredibly fast? And what happens inside a person when the only way to survive is to jump straight into the lake?
This is a story about what happens when disaster arrives. About how firefighters and volunteers work side by side to stop the flames that have destroyed entire communities, and how people react both to one another and to the approaching threat.
The production is based on real events – and touches us all in this era of climate change.
