Jonas Högström – “Weekend Dad”
Jonas Högström, born on 4 June 1956 in Höganäs, is a Swedish sculptor who grew up in Lerberget on the Kulla Peninsula. He studied sculpture at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm. Jonas Högström is a skilled bronze artist with an independent working process, active in the entire chain from clay model to finished work. With a strong presence in public spaces and several notable public commissions, he is a prominent figure in contemporary Swedish sculpture.
Background & working process
- Högström works primarily in bronze. He models himself in clay and is responsible for the entire production process — from mould-making (including plaster, gelatine, silicone and fibreglass) to wax modelling, bronze casting, welding and patination.
- He runs his own bronze foundry, which allows him to personally oversee the entire working process.

- Porträtt av keramikern Åke Holm at Höganäs Museum and Art Hall
- Akut akvedukt in Helsingborg
- Stunder av lycka in Mörarp
- Ruffagubbe in Mölle harbour
- Saga väves på sanningens varp at the Piraten Museum in Vollsjö — a sculptural group featuring characters from Fritiof Nilsson Piraten, including his cat Skorpan.
- Further public artworks can be found at locations such as Munka-Ljungby cemetery, the Employment Service in Åstorp, a retirement home in Trelleborg, Lerberget Church, Höganäs Museum, Kastlösa Diocesan Centre on Öland, Vimmerby, Fredriksdal Theatre in Helsingborg, and Bokliden care home in Mörarp.
- He has also carried out portrait commissions, including of Artur Lundkvist and the author Birgitta Trotzig.
